We are a training program for couch potatoes, by couch potatoes. When we started Marathon Makeover, we were NOT runners. We were busy working, raising a family and NOT taking very good care of ourselves. We accepted the challenge and, over the next 9 months, trained for and completed the Chicago Marathon.
If you have never run before, Marathon Makeover will work for you.
If you don't know where to start, Marathon Makeover is for you.
If you don't have a running or walking group, Marathon Makeover is for you.
If you have a training group, but need some additional motivation, inspiration and education, Marathon Makeover can help!
If you walk and/or run but need some additional training or support, Marathon Makeover is here for YOU.
There is a lot to cover and we will get to it all, over time. But first, let me answer the most commonly asked question, "What if I don't run - have never run and might not want to run?". If this is you, you are perfect for Marathon Makeover. We welcome runners AND walkers!
We strongly encourage ALL beginners to start by WALKING ONLY for the first 10 weeks. That is your starting point. After the first 10 weeks, if you want to start running, we will show you how to start slowly and safely.
Some of the best friends you can have are running buddies. Tackle this challenge together and have some of the best times of your life!
When you sign up as a team, each member will be given a unique, one time use code to enter when they register, so that they will not be charged and will be grouped as a team. Do what we did and turn your challenge into a party! You might as well have fun along the way to YOUR destination!
Here are some quotes from past Marathon Makeover participants. When asked what they learned while training, they answered:
